Key players for West Ham have been out or injured, and the team’s Premier League performances and results have plummeted.
Few West Ham players can confidently state that they have been competing in the Premier League in recent months.
David Moyes has had several mitigating circumstances.
He lost Mohammed Kudus to the AFCON, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen to injuries, and Michail Antonio for three months due to illness.
For West Ham, all four are important players. Additionally, they were no longer a member of the team.
Naturally, injuries occur at any team. However, this Hammers team lacks the depth of quality to deal with such absences.
What shocked West Ham the most, though, was Bowen’s injury. West Ham is powered by its best scorer.
In addition to his goals and assists, his work ethic, enthusiasm, and leadership are essential components of Moyes’ squad.
Following an ankle injury sustained against Bristol City, a month-long absence was anticipated. However, Bowen returned quickly, playing against Sheffield United just two weeks later.
Nonetheless, a lot of admirers believe Bowen has changed since then.
We now understand why.
Considering that the important West Ham player has been playing despite an injury for the past month.
Bowen stated on the team’s official website that he ran back to support the group. He does, however, admit that since the accident, he has not been “at it.”
And in front of the match against Brentford, he admits it has taken him until today to feel fully recovered.
It’s been challenging, but we just need to push through it because football has its ups and downs. Bowen remarked.
“I’ve also taken a close look at myself. As an offensive player, it’s my responsibility to help us win games. I had a minor ache in January, but I’m back to it again.
“I have faith in this team’s ability, and I know that we can go on winning streaks when we play at our best. In the Premier League, there are no simple games. However, you must have faith, and sometimes all it takes is one victory to turn things around.
Let’s hope that when our bitter rivals Brentford visit the London Stadium on Monday night, a pain-free Bowen makes up for lost time.
