As they seek a replacement for Eddie Howe, Newcastle United have joined the race to secure the services of the highly sought-after manager, Ruben Amorim.

According to Team Talk, Newcastle is actively considering Ruben Amorim as a potential future manager, especially with the possibility of Eddie Howe’s departure in the summer.

The Magpies are now competing with Chelsea and Liverpool, both of whom have been monitoring the 39-year-old manager closely.

Ruben Amorim has left a significant mark at Sporting Lisbon since taking charge in March 2020, establishing himself as one of the most promising young coaches in European football.

Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim couldn't be further from 'next Jose Mourinho' label, compared himself to Bobby Robson, told Manchester United to sign Erik ten Hag, and could be the man to replace

With his attractive style of play, the former Portugal international midfielder has brought about a transformation in the club’s fortunes, securing the Primeira Liga, the Portuguese Cup, and the Portuguese Super Cup during his four-year tenure.

Newcastle has fallen short of the success achieved under Eddie Howe in the previous season, and things have not unfolded as planned. The team lags behind in the race for a top-four spot, having qualified for the Champions League only to exit in the group stages.

Newcastle, having made a return to the Champions League after a 20-year hiatus last season, currently find themselves struggling in the standings, grappling with significant injury challenges throughout the season. Despite the club’s owners aspiring to mold Eddie Howe into their own version of Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary manager of Manchester United, this season has been deemed a failure due to the demanding nature of results-driven football.

With Jurgen Klopp announcing his departure from Liverpool in the summer, there have been consistent links between the club and Ruben Amorim. Chelsea also holds an interest, having considered Amorim for their managerial position before appointing Mauricio Pochettino, and there is speculation that poor results may lead to Pochettino’s dismissal.

Considering these factors, it is anticipated that Ruben Amorim will receive numerous offers in the summer. However, he may opt to carefully evaluate his options and embark on a new chapter in his career once the season concludes.
