Iowa women’s basketball standout Caitlin Clark is on the verge of surpassing Pete Maravich on the NCAA’s all-time scoring list, needing just 18 more points to achieve this milestone. In the recent victory of the No. 6 Hawkeyes over Minnesota, Clark delivered an impressive performance, scoring 33 points. During the fourth quarter, her skillful side-stepping 3-pointer from the right wing not only contributed to the team’s 108-60 win but also propelled her past Lynette Woodard in the historical scoring rankings of college basketball.

Lynette Woodard, a Hall of Famer in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, accumulated 3,649 points during her time playing for Kansas from 1975 to 1979, a period predating the NCAA’s governance of women’s basketball.

Caitlin Clark, who ascended to become the NCAA’s Division I women’s scoring leader on February 15, has now accumulated 3,650 career points, maintaining an impressive average of 32.1 points per game this season. The anticipation is high for Clark to surpass Pete Maravich on Sunday, as Iowa concludes its regular season against No. 2 Ohio State at 1 p.m. on FOX.

Pete Maravich’s record of 3,667 points over three seasons without a shot clock or a 3-point line remains unmatched in the last 53 seasons of NCAA Division I basketball, making Clark’s potential achievement a significant milestone.

In addition to her scoring prowess, Clark also set an NCAA women’s record on Wednesday by making her 156th 3-pointer in a single season.
