The former defender for Leeds United was a childhood Newcastle United supporter.
Newcastle United and West Ham United are said to be monitoring Ipswich Town’s left-back Leif Davis. The 24-year-old has emerged as a standout player in Ipswich Town’s surprising push for promotion to the Premier League, showcasing his abilities with an impressive tally of 14 assists this season.
Davis, who is a lifelong Newcastle fan, had earlier played for Wallsend Boys Club before progressing through Morecambe’s academy and subsequently joining Leeds United.
“For years, I owned a season ticket at St. James’ Park and have always been an avid fan,” Davis remarked. Ryan Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini were present when I went to see them for the first time. Gabriel Obertan and Yohan Cabaye came next.
“The European nights, when I went up there with my dad and brother, were my favorite games.” Hopefully, there will be an opportunity to see a few Champions League matches this season.
In addition to his two Premier League games against Manchester United and Manchester City, Davis made 14 senior appearances for Leeds, including a loan at AFC Bournemouth.
In 2022, he left to sign a £1.2 million deal to join Ipswich, where he immediately earned promotion from League One in his first season. With the exception of three Championship games this season, Davis has started every game for Kieran McKenna’s team, which is tied for third place in the standings with Leeds.
Davis is reportedly attracting interest from both Newcastle and West Ham, according to TalkSPORT, even though the Magpies are need to pay £28 million to get Lewis Hall from Chelsea in the summer.
In the meantime, The Hammers are searching for a replacement left-back to take Aaron Cresswell’s spot after he served his entire career.
