Will the Jets select the versatile wide receiver with the 10th overall pick?

LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers, gearing up for his NFL Combine workout, shared his thoughts with the media regarding his future professional destination. Expressing enthusiasm, Nabers stated, “I’m happy to go anywhere where I’m wanted – where I’m wanted to be one of those receivers they move around, create, and give me the ball. So anywhere where I’m able to do those things.”

Nabers, widely regarded as one of the top playmakers in college football last season, showcased his skills in 13 starts, achieving career highs with 89 receptions, 1,569 yards, and 14 touchdowns. His outstanding performance culminated in becoming LSU’s all-time leader in receptions (189) and receiving yards (3,003) over his three-year career, marked by consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

Confident in his abilities, Nabers declared, “I’m a dog. When that ball is in the air, you know it’s mine.” Emphasizing his playmaking prowess, he added, “When I get the ball in my hands, I’m able to do tremendous things with it. I create space against different defensive backs, make explosive plays downfield, and turn an eight-yard route into a touchdown.” With such a track record, Nabers is poised to make a significant impact at the professional level.

With an eye on adding a complement to Garret Wilson, the New York Jets may consider targeting LSU’s versatile performer, Malik Nabers, early in the draft. Nabers, who boasts the capability to make impactful plays from various positions, is a constant threat to break away for a touchdown, standing 7th in LSU history with 21 receiving touchdowns.

Nabers himself emphasized his versatility, stating, “I’m able to go outside and inside,” highlighting his ability to create space against different defensive matchups, whether it’s a long, lanky corner, a slot defender, or a safety. His adaptability across positions contributes to his effectiveness on the field. Nabers confidently asserted, “I can go against eight defensive backs a game and still average 100 yards a game.”

During the previous season, Nabers showcased his dynamic playstyle by averaging 120.7 yards per game. Leading the FBS in plays of 20-plus yards (34) and 30-plus yards (17), he demonstrated his ability to consistently make significant gains. Notably, Nabers’ quarterback, Jayden Daniels, is also expected to join him in the first round of the draft as the LSU duo transitions to the professional level.

Reflecting on his productive partnership with Daniels, Nabers attributed his success to creating space for the quarterback, ensuring he had ample opportunities to make accurate throws. Nabers’ speed and adept ball-tracking ability played pivotal roles in their successful collaboration, setting the stage for both players to make a mark in the NFL.
