On Tuesday, March 12, at Cardiff Crown Court, Steven Jones, 34, of Mountain Ash, and Cory Jones, 28, of Abercynon, entered pleas of guilty to assault and affray.

The brothers were recognized from mobile phone and CCTV footage that captured them kicking and punching one other. According to investigators, there was footage of the brothers giggling in the concourse after the event.

Steven Jones received a 12-month jail sentence suspended for two years, while Cory Jones received a 15-month prison sentence suspended for two years, in addition to a five-year football ban.

Cory Jones was placed under a 120-day alcohol abstinence order and required to perform 180 hours of unpaid labor. In addition, Steven Jones was ordered to abstain from alcohol for 120 days and perform 120 hours of unpaid labor. They are all required to provide the victim £500 in damages.

“This was appalling behaviour and no doubt the overwhelming majority of Cardiff City fans who are well-behaved and passionate about their club, will be shocked by this incident,” stated South Wales Police’s PC Simon Chivers, Dedicated Football Officer for Cardiff City.

“Considering the amount of punches and kicks to the head, it is amazing and lucky that there were no more severe injuries from this attack. We always look for the perpetrators of any disruption or violence related to football so that the proper measures can be done. The Cardiff City Stadium will not put up with this kind of behavior.
In relation to the assault, police have now made public the images of two additional individuals they would like to identify. Suspect number three is a white male who is thought to be between thirty and thirty-five years old.
