Jordan Poyer’s Wife Reveals Why Ex-Bills Safety Signed With Dolphins

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, veteran safety Jordan Poyer is choosing to sign with the AFC East rival Miami Dolphins after being dismissed by the Buffalo Bills before to NFL free agency.
After the initial story on March 12th in the evening, ESPN Dolphins beat writer Marcel Louis-Jacques quickly provided the deal specifics. According to the article, Jordan Poyer, a former first-team All-Pro whose career earnings come up just short of $44 million, has a one-year, $2 million agreement with the Dolphins.

Following their agreement, Poyer’s spouse Rachel Bush posted a message on Instagram featuring their daughter Aliyah next to Miami’s mascot, “T.D.” For fans of the Dolphins, FinsXtra shared the message on X.
She said in the photo’s caption, “Aliyah had only one place she wanted daddy to sign. Guess where?” “We’re home!!” exclaimed Bush in a second text bubble.

Jordan Poyer's Wife Reveals Why He Signed With Dolphins

The defensive back, speaking with NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe, also repeated his wife’s remarks. “I’m returning home!” He restated. “During the off-season, I live about 25 minutes away from there.” It feels like I’m returning home because I’ve wanted to visit Florida for a very long time. It seems appropriate, and I have a great deal of respect for coach [Mike] McDaniel and his group. I believe I’ll fit in perfectly.
Poyer’s family seems to have had a role in encouraging him to make a homecoming.

Jordan Poyer Admitted to Wanting to ‘Play Somewhere Warm’ With Tax Benefits at NFL Combine, Is ‘Huge Fan of Tua’

Poyer has been making some very clear indications that he would be open to joining the Dolphins, whether it is because his daughter Aliyah has asked to play for the team or because his family stays there in the off-season.

In an NFL combine interview that was posted on X by a user going by the handle “Tili,” Poyer was questioned if he would want to “play somewhere warm” with better tax advantages. He said, “I mean, who wouldn’t?” in response. Together with a chuckle and a smile.

“I’ve had a good time,” Poyer continued, “I’ve cherished my six years as a player in Buffalo. “I adore those supporters out there. I adore the neighborhood. However, at this point in my life, I truly want to take pleasure in the labor I’ve done to get to where I am.
He came to the conclusion that, despite his continued affection for the Bills fanbase, he was “going to do whatever’s best for my family and myself.”

On February 25, 2023, the safety discussed his bond with Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on his podcast, “The Jordan Poyer Podcast.”

Poyer admitted in the video, “A lot of Bills fans won’t like that I am friends with Tua,” adding that he will be at the QB’s birthday celebration at the time. Poyer continued, describing Tagovailoa as a “young baller” and a “really good dude,” adding that he initially hit it off with the Dolphins signal-caller on the golf course.
He later said he was a “huge fan of Tua” and that he “had a lot of respect for him and his craft.”

New Safety Jordan Poyer Greeted by Real-Life Dolphins After Signing

With all these hints, Poyer’s arrival in Miami seems almost inevitable. But for those who aren’t convinced, imagine Poyer getting the news and being greeted by a few actual Dolphins?
FinsXtra shared a video from Poyer’s Instagram story on X, stating that the DB saw three dolphins emerge from the adjacent sea. “Jordan Poyer seems to have been joined by some Dolphins today right after the news of his signing for Miami came out,” the site said.

Whichever way it came about, Miami gains experience with this signing. Poyer has nearly 800 total tackles in his career along with 38 TFLs, 12.5 sacks, 11 forced fumbles (two in the playoffs), 7 more fumble recoveries, 54 passes defensed, and just one interception.

Poyer was a former Philadelphia Eagles seventh-round selection who eventually established himself as a starter with the Cleveland Browns before making a major impact in Buffalo. He’s a real professional and a grinder, and he should be helpful to Miami in their Super Bowl quest.
