Anthony Gordon, a winger for Newcastle United, is hard at work getting ready for England’s March friendly at Wembley Stadium against Brazil and Belgium.
Anthony Gordon is fulfilling his ‘dream since childhood’ as he receives his first-ever invitation to join the England senior squad. The winger from Newcastle United has convened with the England team at St George’s Park on Tuesday, preparing for the upcoming friendly matches against Brazil and Belgium at Wembley Stadium on March 23 (kick-off at 7pm) and March 26 (kick-off at 7:45pm) respectively.
Gordon has showcased impressive performance in his debut full season at Newcastle, registering 10 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances this season. Shortly after arriving at England’s training base, Gordon was questioned about his inclusion in the Three Lions squad.
“It’s just an indescribable feeling,” he confessed. “I’ve put in so much hard work this season, and to have my childhood dream come true is simply amazing.”
Gordon has consistently represented England across various youth levels, from the Under-18s to the Under-21s, amassing a total of 34 caps. His contributions were instrumental in England’s victory at the Under-21s European Championships last summer, where he was honored as the player of the tournament.
Despite a sluggish beginning to his tenure at Newcastle following his £45 million transfer from Everton in January 2023, the 23-year-old has shown significant improvement since returning from the Under-21s Euros. He is presently experiencing his most prolific scoring season to date.

When queried about his anticipations for the upcoming international period, Gordon remarked, “Simply being here, soaking up everything. I’ve been here numerous times with the youth teams, but being here as a senior player is an entirely different experience, and I’m eagerly looking forward to it.”
Gordon is poised for a Wembley rendezvous with his Newcastle teammate Bruno Guimaraes, who is included in the Brazil squad slated to clash with England on March 23rd.
