According to Brian Dulle of Fox 4, a man from Missouri has been accused of stealing equipment worth over $46,000 from the Miami Dolphins during their wild-card game. Identified as Joseph Brown Sr., he now faces a $50,000 cash bond for a class C felony charge.
As per Dulle’s report, Brown Sr. allegedly committed the theft on January 13, coinciding with the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Dolphins with a score of 26–7 in freezing conditions, advancing to the AFC divisional round.
According to court documents cited by WDAF-TV’s Dulle, a Miami representative reported the theft of a box truck containing team gear/equipment to the police the day after the wild-card game.
The stolen items, valued at $46,376, included media equipment in five Pelican cases, four large aqua-colored equipment cases, three large equipment cases, football pads, gloves, shoes, cold weather gear, hockey bags containing “cape” coats, and game film.
Detectives traced a vehicle matching Brown’s gray Ford-150 after reviewing surveillance footage of the alleged theft. The suspected vehicle was discovered later, containing equipment boxes matching the description of those missing from the Dolphins.
Brown remains in custody on a $50,000 cash bond. This incident marks the second large-scale alleged equipment theft in the NFL within the past six months, following a significant equipment loss by the Chicago Bears in September.
