Just In: Veteran star now reacts to 'useless' West Ham jibe

Kalvin Phillips, the England international, faced a forgettable outing at St James’ Park as West Ham United suffered a disappointing 4-3 defeat.

After Saturday’s 4-3 loss to Newcastle, Kalvin Phillips’ miserable loan experience at West Ham came to an abrupt end when he was seen on camera getting into a heated argument with supporters.

Soon after coming off the bench at St. James’ Park, the former Leeds United player handed away a controversial penalty. The player has battled to establish consistency since joining from Manchester City in January.

When the England international was substituted in the 69th minute, the Hammers were leading 3-1, but the Magpies prevailed thanks to a brace from Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak’s second-best spot-kick of the game.

A fan can be heard calling Phillips “useless” as he boards the team coach following the game in a video that has been circulated on social media. After stepping inside the car, Phillips can be seen gesturing to the crowd with his middle finger through the windscreen. Regarding the event, West Ham has refrained from commenting.

Regarding his choice to substitute Phillips in the second half, Hammers manager David Moyes stated: “An additional midfield player would give us a bit more control in the middle of the pitch at that time.” It definitely didn’t work, though.

They seemed like a marginally superior team at the time. We were up 2-1 and won 3-1, but we had to improve our defense going forward in order to be more formidable opponents.

For the Hammers, Phillips has only started three Premier League games since arriving in the capital during the January transfer window. Prior to the European Championships this summer, he has lost his spot in the England squad due to his poor form.
