Coventry City sent Leeds United request as Simms and Wright dent promotion hopes

Leeds United suffered its first loss of 2024 at the hands of Coventry City on Saturday at the CBS Arena.
With a dominant 2-1 victory over automatic promotion candidates Leeds United on Saturday in front of a sellout crowd at the CBS Arena, Coventry City enhanced their play-off chances.

City went up to 64 points and is still three behind Norwich City, who had defeated Ipswich Town earlier in the day, with a game remaining for the surrounding teams. It looks like further trips to Wembley are still on the cards!

Leeds suffered their first loss since December at the hands of Ellis Simms and Haji Wright, even though Joel Piroe pulled one back. Leeds have been dominant in the second half of the season and have forced themselves into the title equation during that time while Leicester have struggled to find consistency. The Leeds supporters feel this way about the Sky Blues, and they want them to do it again against Southampton and Ipswich.

Craig Dickinson: It’s hard to accept defeat right now, but this coming week, you have two winnable home games to turn things around. I hope Coventry can pull off a similar show when Ipswich visits later in the month.

Connor: Ipswich still needs to travel to Coventry and Hull. Today’s game was always going to be difficult (the majority played poorly, which isn’t ideal). We still have five to go.

Parody: I was polite enough not to watch that game. One of the hardest away games of the season is Coventry. incredibly devastating, but not unexpected. We must triumph in the upcoming five games.

The Unusual Millenial: Don’t freak out. Must beat Ipswich by a single point. Coventry had a great game plan and excellent defense, which was aided by our lack of initiative.

Mathew Hibbert: We haven’t beaten West Brom or Coventry in the last two games. If we don’t advance, we may have to play either in the play-off semifinals. With any luck, we’ll end up like Derby did to us in 2019. When it counts most, defeat them

Brian F: Well done, Coventry, for hanging in there. Well deserved it. They are battling for sixth place. We already have a position where we are eligible for promotion. We’re not begging for leftovers, nor have we bottled the season.

Ryan: For Leeds, this was not supposed to be the day. Bravo to Coventry; they are an excellent team. Leeds still has a chance to get in the top two. Hold onto your trust.

Kyle Newbould: Very subpar and a hugely wasted opportunity for Leeds United. Bravo to Coventry, as they appear to have figured them out. At least in Ipswich, no ground was lost. to correct it, back-to-back home games and three-quarter matches against teams in the bottom half. Much work remains.

Andy F. NYorks: We alone are to blame for the extremely disappointing outcome and performance; you can’t just show up for 20 minutes against a team like Coventry.
