Despite Thiago Motta’s commitment to Juventus, AC Milan is reportedly attempting to reclaim first place in the recruitment race

After being connected to Motta in recent months, Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) is reporting that Milan is attempting to surpass Juventus and sign Motta as Stefano Pioli’s replacement at the end of the current campaign.

Milan is considering other applicants after observing the tremendous backlash following the announcement that Julen Lopetegui will be appointed. Although Roberto De Zerbi and Francesco Farioli are on the list, the management is attempting to influence the talks between Motta and Juventus.

In spite of his self-promised loyalty to Juventus and Cristiano Giuntoli, the club has reopened its lines of communication with the Italian-Brazilian’s entourage.

But there was no pre-agreement after the verbal handshake, and Juve is having trouble with Massimiliano Allegri. If he were to be fired, he would insist on receiving his whole salary as well as the emoluments of his employees, which would come to over €12 million.

Given that Juventus must already pay Cristiano Ronaldo €9.7 million in arrears from the Covid-19 era, this is no little amount. Milan is attempting to make up for lost time while the Old Lady does the arithmetic.
