Newcastle United injuries: This is the number of games that players have missed so far in the 2023–24 Premier League, Champions League, and cup competitions.

Newcastle United is striving for European qualification despite grappling with an extensive injury crisis throughout the season.

As the campaign enters its final stretch, the Magpies find themselves in seventh place in the Premier League table. Remarkably, despite playing 47 matches across all competitions, no player has been able to feature in every single one.

An injury plague has struck the squad, with eight members available for less than half of the total matches played. Additionally, the team has been hit with five season-ending injuries, affecting key players such as Jamaal Lascelles, Sven Botman, Joe Willock, Lewis Miley, and Matt Targett.

Further complications arose with Sandro Tonali receiving a 10-month betting ban, ruling him out for the majority of the 2023-24 season, and Harvey Barnes missing a total of 28 games due to injury, although he has since recovered.

Even top scorer Alexander Isak hasn’t been spared, missing 10 matches due to injury this season.

However, amidst the adversity, some players have managed to maintain their fitness throughout the campaign. Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon, although encountering several knocks, have made themselves available for nearly every match, their only absences being due to suspension.

Gordon also shared his approach to training, avoiding weight training due to concerns about increased injury risk. Reflecting on his strategy, he emphasized prioritizing game-specific training over adding muscle mass, as he believes excessive weight training could potentially lead to more injuries.
