Another transfer warning has been sent to Christian Pulisic, as Alexi Lalas has stated that another coach who does not “like” the USMNT star may join AC Milan.
With a personal-best return of 13 goals in his first season at San Siro, the American international has demonstrated his value in 2023–24. But Pulisic might face being stripped of his coaching responsibilities this summer by Stefano Pioli, the manager who signed him away from Chelsea.
When there is a change of guard, there is frequently a shift in mentality, and people enter with their baggage, predetermined conceptions, and desired path, as Lalas has already stated in reference to that circumstance. It’s possible that Christian Pulisic finds himself in a position where thousands of players have been before—that is, where they are simply not included in the plans for the future. The bright side for Christian Pulisic is that I believe there will be a large number of suitors and people that want him moving forward. Ironically, he would have to go after what was maybe his best season ever.
In his latest State of the Union podcast, the former USMNT defender reaffirmed the earlier argument, adding, “In the general, evergreen reality of coaches that come in and have their own ideas.” Someone might enter and remark, “While Christian Pulisic might be good, this isn’t working, and I don’t like what I’m about to do.” Although I believe those would be rare, anyone might potentially enter. Going forward, you will have to prove yourself to someone else if and when that person enters. Being a big boy, Christian Pulisic will figure out a way to accomplish it. He won’t mind if he needs to go somewhere else.
Given that Pulisic’s Milan deal runs through 2027, it seems unlikely that he will be leaving anytime soon. But before the upcoming campaign, he’ll need to impress a new coach and beat out opponents like Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze for his attacking spot.
