Legendary player Tyler Ulis of the Kentucky Wildcats will accompany John Calipari to Fayetteville.
Ulis is joining the Arkansas staff, as disclosed by the former head coach of the United Kingdom, Calipari, in the most recent episode of his podcast, Ways to Win.
Cal added, “And he’s (Ulis) traveling to Arkansas with me.”
Though the decision may not sit well with Kentucky fans, Ulis must act in his best interests moving forward.
Having said that, it’s safe to say that it will be challenging to see the adored icon—likely dressed in red—sitting on the Arkansas bench this autumn.
Ulis had worked as a student assistant for Kentucky for the previous two seasons, and there was a general expectation that Mark Pope would find him a position in Lexington. Any team would be fortunate to have him as a coach because of his charisma and ability to connect with the players.
Tyler Ulis will be going to the call pigs instead, and it will be our collective problem to deal with.
Under Calipari, No. 3 was a unique player who broke the record for the most assists in a UK single season and was named to the First Team All-American in his sophomore campaign.
As anticipated, Calipari has practically moved his whole coaching staff and roster to Fayetteville. This announcement came as a bit of a shock because Ulis was not first revealed as a member of Calipari’s staff, but it all makes perfect sense if you give it some thought.
Who could forget Ulis’s fearless effort against Louisville, the greatest opponent of the program? The Big Blue Nation will never forget the image of the blood streaming down his face.
Ulis was always going to coach somewhere, even if it stings a little to know it would be for a conference rival team led by a coach who has the Cats right in his sights.
When Coach Cal and the Razorbacks return to Rupp Stadium, it will be incredible Arena.
