Breaking News: Kentucky now confirm deal of another prolific star

After being released from his national letter of intent with South Carolina, Trent Noah will sign with the Wildcats.

In a press release, Pope stated, “Trent Noah is one of the elite shooters in this class.” “He has a unique physicality and is a gritty, hard-nosed player. Trent, a product of eastern Kentucky, will infuse the team with a grit, toughness, and desire that embodies this state. Trent is a welcome addition to this accomplished bunch.”

Prior to being released from his national letter of intent on May 7, Noah had committed to and signed with Lamont Paris and South Carolina. He then took to social media to “pursue basketball opportunities closer to home.”

Standing six feet six inches tall, the Baxter, Kentucky native is a four-star recruit according to 247sports. He is rated as the 103rd best player in the class of 2024, the 24th best small forward, and the second best player from the Commonwealth, only surpassed by Lyon County, Kentucky signee Travis Perry.

“Trent Noah is a powerful wing player with exceptional shooting ability,” stated Adam Finkelstein, head of scouting at 247sports. “The three-point line is the foundation of his game. Not only is he among the best in the class at spot-up shots, which act as a floor-spacer by adding gravity, but he can also make shots while moving. He is a skilled passer and a heady offensive player who understands how to operate inside an offensive system. Noah can guard some bigger players thanks to his powerful and reasonably broad physique. He is a strong wing rebounder as well. He still needs to improve his ability to start his own offense and his defensive speed.”

He had the fifth-highest point total in KHSAA history during his remarkable high school career, with 3,707 points.

As a senior in high school, the All-State selection averaged 29.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. After leading Harlan County to the KHSAA State Championship Game, Perry and Lyon County defeated them.

Noah’s arrival and the decision to hang onto Perry, who had previously committed to John Calipari, come after Pope stated during his April press conference that he would only recruit players from within the state.

“Travis Perry next year, from Richie Farmer and all of the instate greats that came before him, including Reed [Sheppard].”

“Before Richie and after Travis and everybody in-between that is an instate Kentucky kid, these young men that grow up in Kentucky, they bring a spirit to the team that cannot be fabricated or replaced and it helps us to win,” Pope stated. “We will continue to recruit them.”

Noah wasn’t recruited by Calipari when he was at Kentucky.

The Wildcats 2024 freshmen class will include Noah in addition to Perry and former four-star prospect Collin Chandler, who had signed with BYU before returning from a two-year mission.

Including the seven transfers Amari Williams (Drexel), Lamont Butler (San Diego State), Otega Oweh (Oklahoma), Andrew Carr (Wake Forest), Brandon Garrison (Oklahoma State), Koby Brea (Dayton), and Kerr Kriisa (West Virginia), UK now has ten players on Pope’s debut roster overall.

Pope and his colleagues will have three scholarships left for the 2024–2025 campaign.
