Bills News: DeWayne Carter Reported to Rookie Minicamp in Buffalo

During rookie minicamp this weekend, the 23-year-old defensive tackle saw his first reps in a Bills suit. Carter went on to join Buffalo’s roster that included 26 players on tryouts, 12 signed undrafted free agents, and nine additional 2024 draft picks.

The Bills Mafia was thrilled to see the newest tackle on the squad for the first time. Carter added, “I’m just excited to get here and earn my role,” to Bills reporter Maddy Glab. He is getting ready to work in a “second to none” metropolis with a “elite” staff, alongside a “elite group of veterans.”

Glab noted that in addition to his dominance on the field, he was an academic All-American. It was evident that Brandon Beane, general manager of the Bills, valued high character based on the players picked that year.

When compared to previous season, the Bills’ defensive tackle room is noticeably different, with the exception of starters DaQuan Jones and Ed Oliver. Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic projects Carter to have an effect on the 53-man roster.

Buscaglia noted that Austin Johnson and “Carter as the top backups behind Oliver and Jones” were added when Tim Settle, Jordan Phillips, and Poona Ford were cut. “(DeShaun) Williams might stay, but his contract allows for an easy cut, and he’ll probably return to a practice squad duty. It looks like they will only keep four members of this group this year.
