West Coast team Waalitj Marawar has declared young forward Noah Long sidelined for the rest of the campaign.
After being replaced during the third quarter of the Eagles’ defeat to Essendon last weekend, Long will require knee surgery and will now miss the remainder of the team’s season.
Although he was able to protect his anterior cruciate ligament, the team announced on Tuesday that he will need surgery on his posterior cruciate ligament.
High performance manager Mat Inness stated on the club website, “Longy had a consultation with the specialist, unfortunately he needs surgery which will put a finish to his season.”
In his second season with the team, Long appeared in seven games. Due to a hip pointer ailment, he missed both their round one match and their match against Gold Coast in the round eight.
This season, the pressure forward has kicked two goals.
For the Eagles’ Sunday afternoon match against Narrm (Melbourne), Jack Petruccelle will also be absent because he was benched during the weekend’s loss to Collingwood.
After being evaluated, Petruccelle was found to have low-grade syndesmosis in his ankle.
