Nashville, Tennessee (AP) Patrick Mahomes stated Wednesday that, while he disagrees with all of kicker Harrison Butker’s ideas expressed during a recent commencement address, he respects his teammate’s freedom to express them.
Butker delivered a polarizing speech on May 11 at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, in which he stated that most women receiving degrees were probably more excited about getting married and having children, and that some Catholic leaders were “pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America.”
Butker also criticized Pride Month, a significant period for the LGBTQ+ community, and President Joe Biden’s position on abortion.
