SAD NEWS: Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur declared that quarterback Jordan Love would no longer play.
Jordan Love is “everything to us” at the offseason program, according to Matt LaFleur.
More than a year after agreeing to his last deal with the Packers, quarterback Jordan Love is now qualified for a contract extension.
Love is guaranteed to sign a big new contract soon after throwing for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a playoff victory in his debut season as a starter.
Head coach Matt LaFleur said the fact that he’s taking part in the offseason program in spite of his contract status is a real plus for the team.
During his press conference on Tuesday, LaFleur stated, “Oh, it’s everything to us.” “I believe that if you look at our attendance here, which has been the best since I’ve been here, we’ve had virtually 100% the entire offseason. I know that one player missed today due to a personal problem. And I’ve always believed that when you look at the league, it just naturally draws everyone in when your quarterback is there.
These guys want to work hard because they know how young our football team is. I believe that many of the guys in our group like both the game and the grind of working through some challenging situations with one another. However, it is impossible to place a value on having him here.
Love is starting his second season as a starter, and LaFleur said the club can “feel the confidence” coming from the quarterback.
That’s to be expected, according to LaFleur. “You anticipate that the guys will keep working hard and improving. His command regarding the offense. The guys I know all have the utmost respect for him, both for his character and his contributions to the team. He is really reliable.
“He just acts like one of the guys and has a great attitude every day.”
