His current contract has two years left on it.
Following the announcement of Jason Saab’s long-term retention, it is said that the Manly Sea Eagles have begun talks with a top forward about keeping him with the team.
Taniela Paseka, one of the most reliable players in the Manly Sea Eagles forward pack, may stay with the club beyond his current contract.
Since his debut in 2018, the 26-year-old Paseka has played 109 first-grade games and is expected to soon represent New Zealand or Tonga internationally.
Although he is contracted until the end of the 2026 season, The Daily Telegraph reports that the Sea Eagles are negotiating to extend his contract until the end of 2028.
This would make him the third longest-signed player at the club, following Haumole Olakau’atu (2031) and Jason Saab (2029).
“Taniela has had his most consistent NRL season, being our starting front-rower all year,” coach Anthony Seibold said last year after Paseka signed a three-year deal.
“He has narrowed the gap between his best and worst games.
“I think giving him the responsibility as the starting front-rower has helped him become a more consistent player, thanks to his solid weekly preparation.
“Taniela is well-settled at Manly, and his best football is still ahead of him over the next few years.”
