Michael Olise of Crystal Palace and Noni Madueke of Chelsea are targets for Newcastle United as Eddie Howe aims to add a right attacker to his roster this summer.
Lloyd Kelly, who is leaving AFC Bournemouth on a free transfer, is the first player the Magpies have added this summer transfer season. With a one-year option to extend, the 25-year-old signed a five-year deal that includes coverage at left and center back.
Additionally, United and Burnley are still in negotiations about James Trafford joining. The England goalkeeper is rumored to have already reached a personal agreement to go, but a transfer fee needs to be worked out, with the Clarets requesting over £20 million.
Although Olise, who has a £60 million release clause, is rumored to have been approached by Howe’s team about signing, a number of Premier League teams are expected to make a move to recruit the 22-year-old. Right now, Chelsea is supposedly putting more effort into signing him than Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
However, the Magpies are also interested in Madueke, as i News first revealed, which might have a cascading effect. In fact, Madueke might be traded if the Blues win the race for Olise, as Cole Palmer and Omari Hutchison are already strong contenders.
Madueke, who cost £29 million to sign a seven-year contract with Chelsea after leaving PSV Eindhoven, had difficulty securing a consistent berth in the starting lineup until the latter part of the previous campaign. Even at the age of 22, he has already competed for England at the under-16 and under-21 levels.
Newcastle faces decisions regarding player sales, particularly concerning the right-wing position. Any departures would significantly bolster the club’s transfer budget, aligning with PSR guidelines.
Miguel Almiron received interest from the Saudi Pro League in January but chose to remain with Newcastle. However, despite his decision, interest persists, and manager Howe is now open to considering offers for the Paraguayan, especially after his limited contribution of three goals and one assist last season.
There’s also speculation surrounding Yankuba Minteh. Despite completing a £7m transfer from Odense last summer, the Gambian has yet to make an appearance for Newcastle, spending the 2023-24 season on loan at Feyenoord. At 19 years old, Minteh is still in the developmental phase, and any potential offers could allow Newcastle to generate an immediate profit on the winger.
