A few months after the commitment of elite 5-Star SG Isiah Harwell, Texas is one of the finalist schools.
Isiah Harwell, a Pocatello, ID native and five-star Texas basketball shooting guard prospect, will commit on September 12th, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. The Gonzaga Bulldogs, Cal Golden Bears, Houston Cougars, and Texas were among the four teams that made up the final four on the list of the nation’s top-ranked shooting guard recruit in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports Composite.

Despite not having visited Austin since Texas offered him a couple of years ago, Harwell remains keen on head coach Rodney Terry’s free-flowing offensive system and the team’s strong emphasis on high-level guard play. He has been closely following the recruitment of five-star shooting guard Tre Johnson to Texas and is intrigued by the opportunity to play in a system that values guard versatility under Terry.
Harwell, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard from Wasatch Academy in Utah, has been a prominent out-of-state target for Texas throughout the 2025 recruitment cycle. Over the past few years, Texas has maintained consistent communication with Harwell, establishing a strong relationship.
Currently, Harwell has one official visit planned before his decision in mid-September. He is set to visit Cal from June 25-26. Previously, he made unofficial visits to Houston in March and took an official visit to Gonzaga in late February 2024.
