Report: Pacers now in to Re-Sign another super star to Max Contract

This offseason, the Indiana Pacers want to re-sign Pascal Siakam to a max contract, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

This offseason, Siakam becomes an unrestricted free agent.

According to Scotto, “the general consensus in the league is Indiana will look to extend point guard TJ McConnell and re-sign forward Pascal Siakam to max contracts in free agency.”

Siakam was acquired by the Pacers in January from the Toronto Raptors. The NBA champion shot 54.9% from the field, 38.6% from outside the arc, and 69.9% from the free-throw line in 41 games with Indiana, averaging 21.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.4 blocks.

Siakam, a two-time All-Star, holds career averages of 17.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks while playing for the Raptors and Pacers. He has also earned All-NBA honors twice and was named the Most Improved Player for the 2018-19 season.

In the 2024 playoffs, the Pacers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round and the New York Knicks in the second round before falling to the Boston Celtics in the conference finals. With Siakam and Tyrese Haliburton leading the team, Indiana looks ahead with optimism for the future.

Following the conclusion of the Pacers’ season, Haliburton expressed enthusiasm about Siakam potentially returning to the team, emphasizing his impact and the team’s desire to keep him. Haliburton intends to actively recruit Siakam to remain in a Pacers uniform, highlighting their strong partnership and his hopes for Siakam’s long-term commitment to the team.

Siakam notably played a pivotal role in helping the Raptors secure the 2019 NBA championship against the Golden State Warriors. The prospect of Siakam contributing to a potential championship run with the Pacers adds an intriguing dimension to his career trajectory.
