The Buffalo Bills drafted several rookies who could step up immediately on the offensive side of the ball in 2024. After trading down twice and moving out of the first round entirely, Buffalo selected wide receiver Keon Coleman to open the second day of the draft. Coleman, 21, is expected to start as the Bills’ X receiver in 2024. The rookie from Florida State also has the ability to play in the slot. With the departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason, Coleman could receive plenty of targets out of the gate on offense.
Fifth-round pick Sedrick Van Pran-Granger is viewed as a rookie who could make an immediate impact. With Mitch Morse’s departure, Buffalo has announced Connor McGovern’s shift from left guard to center. Pran-Granger is seen as a natural fit at center in the NFL, but he will compete for the left guard position this summer against David Edwards and Alec Anderson.
Meanwhile, NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter believes fourth-round pick Ray Davis could have the most significant impact among all of the Bills’ offensive rookies. Reuter included Davis in his projected 2024 NFL All-Rookie Team offense, naming him one of the two running backs alongside Trey Benson.
This is what Reuter had to say about Davis in his prediction for the NFL All-Rookie Team:
In the Bills offense, Davis might be the lightning to James Cook’s thunder, providing Buffalo a stronger one-two punch than it had in 2023 with Cook and Latavius Murray. Josh Allen, the quarterback, won’t be under as much pressure in the red zone thanks to the youngster, who scored fifteen touchdowns on runs last season (Cook had just two rushing touchdowns). Davis’s potential as a receiver out of the backfield may surprise defenses filling the box against him on early downs.
Davis has the opportunity to carve out a substantial role in Buffalo’s offense this season. However, the return of Ty Johnson may limit the rookie’s initial playing time. Johnson was a standout for Buffalo’s offense and solidified himself as the team’s second-string running back last season as it progressed.
