Breaking: Mavericks could trade up-and-coming guard to make other inevitable move

As the 2024 NBA Draft’s second round gets underway, speculation regarding various teams throughout the league is afoot.

The Dallas Mavericks will select today with the No. 58 overall pick, despite not having a first-round pick last night. Although it appears doubtful that Bronny James will fall that far, Dallas has expressed interest in picking him with that choice.

It is unclear if Dallas will have the No. 58 overall pick, and a significant trade involving a veteran player of the Mavs could be in the works.

Mavericks could trade Josh Green to help them trade Tim Hardaway Jr.

The Dallas Mavericks are actively looking to trade Tim Hardaway Jr. this offseason, and one potential destination could be the Detroit Pistons, where former Mavericks executive Dennis Lindsey now works. If a trade with the Pistons materializes, Quentin Grimes has been linked as a potential acquisition for Dallas.

However, alongside Hardaway Jr., another player frequently mentioned in trade discussions is Josh Green. Despite being a hard-working two-way player for the Mavericks, Green’s name has surfaced in trade talks due to interest from other teams dating back to last summer.

Green, entering his fifth NBA season, showed promise last season with averages of 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.8 steals per game, shooting efficiently at 47.9 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point range.

While Green’s potential departure would be regrettable for Mavericks fans given his growth and fit within the team, including him in a trade involving Hardaway Jr. could facilitate a deal by sweetening the offer for the acquiring team.

Dallas has been persistent in attempting to move Hardaway Jr., and this offseason might finally see a transaction come to fruition, potentially involving Green as part of the package. Stay updated for the latest developments regarding Tim Hardaway Jr., Josh Green, and the Dallas Mavericks as the offseason progresses.
