With a number of players having recently left the team via the free agent market, the Carolina Hurricanes are making progress in rebuilding their forward core. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet says that the team will sign forward Jack Roslovic, while the specifics of the contract have not yet been verified financially.

The Columbus, Ohio native was first brought to the NHL after the Winnipeg Jets organization selected him with the 25th overall choice in the 2015 NHL Draft. Prior to going professional for the 2016–17 season, Roslovic attended Miami University in Ohio for a single year. When Roslovic first joined the franchise as a rookie for the Manitoba Moose, its AHL affiliate, he scored 13 goals and 48 points in 65 games.

After a strong start to his AHL season, Roslovic joined the Jets midway through 2017-18. In Winnipeg, he played over 180 games, tallying 26 goals and 67 points in a middle-six role. His rights were later traded to his hometown team, the Columbus Blue Jackets, as part of the Pierre-Luc Dubois deal.

With the Blue Jackets, Roslovic transitioned to a second-line position and enjoyed the most productive stretch of his career so far. Across three and a half seasons, he notched 51 goals and 146 points in 206 regular-season games. Despite his contributions, Columbus missed the playoffs each season, leading to his trade to the New York Rangers for a conditional fourth-round pick in 2026.

Returning to playoff action after a four-year absence, Roslovic played a crucial role for the Rangers, helping them reach the Eastern Conference Finals. He averaged 13:51 minutes of ice time over 16 games, scoring two goals and eight points during New York’s postseason campaign. With significant departures in Carolina recently, Roslovic is expected to slot into the Hurricanes’ middle-six, reportedly under a new contract.
