Breaking News: Veteran free agent unexpectedly promises to sign with the Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are down to one roster slot following the whirlwind of movements they have made in recent weeks. Though this space may disappear shortly, everyone is curious about who the Mavs could sign with their final roster place.

Among the free agency rumors surrounding the Mavericks are those concerning Spencer Dinwiddie and, most lately, Marcus Morris, for whom his brother Markieff is actively advocating.

From what he has been posting, Markieff seems to really want Marcus to join the Mavericks, but there might not be a position on the roster for him.

Markieff Morris promises to sign with the Dallas Mavericks in free agency

Markieff announced on X that “I’m coming back.” In response to a fan’s wish for him to return to the Mavs, he said, “I want bro to come with me.”

Given that Markieff is a free agent and that he seems to have just assured Mavs supporters that he would be re-signing with them this summer, this is an intriguing development. Markief made a promise to the Mavericks last year, and it is something that every Mavericks supporter wants to see happen again.

Few people anticipated Markieff to pledge to re-sign with Dallas, but he appears certain that he will rejoin the Mavericks for the upcoming campaign.

Markieff Morris stepped up as a veteran leader for the Mavs last season and became a fan favorite due to his positive presence on the bench. It appears he could be the one to take the Mavs’ final roster spot.

Markieff would likely return to fill the same role he had last season, where he played in only 26 games, a role he seems content with at this stage in his career.

Despite limited on-court action, he contributed significantly off the floor, earning the team’s MVP title from Jason Kidd. Every team benefits from a player like Markieff, who brings great vibes and leadership. However, bringing his brother to Dallas as well might be a challenge.

Although they only have one available roster space, Markieff is clearly eager to play with his brother in Dallas, where they have recently been linked to Marcus. In order to make place for Marcus on their 15-man roster, the Mavs would need to remove someone, so if they decide to re-sign Markieff, that is a move to watch.

Keep checking back for all the news during the offseason on the Dallas Mavericks.
