On Thursday, Wyatt Langford, a former standout player for the Florida Gators, made an incredible grab by diving into the wall to deny the San Diego Padres a home run.

The rookie for the Texas Rangers struck the wall but was still able to hold onto the ball in deep left field. But he had to raise his left arm to compensate for the ball behind him.

This summer, the Rangers rookie made no bones about how much he’s enjoying his debut season in the major leagues.

Yes, it has been fantastic, Langford replied. “These people have been great, I must say. They have greatly aided. Yes, it’s been really wonderful.

Entering Thursday, Langford had 229 at-bats, a .262 batting average, four home runs, 35 RBIs, 26 runs, and seven stolen bases.

The Rangers selected Langford in the first round of the 2023 MLB Draft, picking him fourth overall. As a senior with the Florida Gators, he was a top draft prospect and lived up to the expectations.

In the 2023 season, Langford hit .373 with 21 home runs, 57 RBIs, and nine stolen bases for the Gators. He earned unanimous All-American honors and led Florida to the College World Series Finals, also making the All-Tournament Team for the 2023 College World Series.

Langford, known for his power hitting, played high school baseball at Trenton in Trenton, Florida. He won the 2019 Perfect Game Home Run Derby before committing to play for the Gators in college.
