The Montreal club in the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced Tuesday that it has signed a one-year contract extension with forward Claire Dalton.

The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We are delighted to have Claire back with us next season. She has a good size and showed great potential last season. We are confident in her continued progress,” said Montreal general manager Danièle Sauvageau.

The 5-foot-9 player from Etobicoke, Ont., scored the first goal in Montreal team history on Jan. 2 in Ottawa. Dalton, 24, also recorded the franchise’s second hat trick, scoring three goals against Ottawa on Feb. 24.

Dalton finished the season with five goals, four assists, and a plus-3 rating in 20 games. She was selected by Montreal in the 12th round, 67th overall, in the inaugural PWHL draft.
