The Boston Bruins have announced a significant change in their broadcast team for the upcoming season. Judd Sirott, who has spent the past seven seasons as the radio play-by-play announcer for the Bruins on 98.5 The Sports Hub, will now take over as the television play-by-play voice on NESN. Sirott succeeds the recently retired Jack Edwards, who held the role for 19 seasons.
Sirott expressed his excitement about the new opportunity, emphasizing the prestige of working with an Original Six team in a passionate hockey market like Boston. He’ll be joining forces with Andy Brickley, who is entering his 24th season as the Bruins’ color analyst.
In a statement released on Thursday, Sirott shared his enthusiasm: “This job is unrivaled around the National Hockey League: an Original Six team, in a spectacular hockey market, in one of the premier cities in the country. It’s my honor to be NESN’s new play-by-play announcer for the Boston Bruins.”
Jack Edwards, who announced his retirement in April, congratulated Sirott on the new role, describing him as a “good man” and a “perfect fit” for the job. Edwards’s endorsement adds a sense of continuity and confidence as Sirott transitions from radio to television.
Bruins fans can look forward to hearing Sirott’s familiar voice in a new capacity as he begins this next chapter in his broadcasting career.
