Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is expected to miss some time after suffering a sprained ankle during Thursday’s 125-122 loss to the Chicago Bulls. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Curry is likely to miss “at least a game or a few games,” but his absence is not expected to be prolonged. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski also reported that an MRI on Curry’s ankle came back clean, indicating that he “won’t miss much time.”
Curry’s health
When on the court, Curry remains one of the most influential players in NBA history. The four-time champion and two-time MVP is known for his ability to change the game with his deep shooting range, forcing opposing defenses to adapt their strategies. This season, he is averaging 26.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game, while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from three-point range.
With Curry sidelined, the Warriors will rely on veterans Chris Paul and Klay Thompson to lead the backcourt. Additionally, younger players like Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, Lester Quinones, and Gary Payton II may see increased playing time. Despite Curry’s absence, Golden State has been playing well, winning 14 of its last 19 games to improve to 33-29, placing them ninth in the Western Conference.
The Warriors are expected to be without Curry for at least Saturday’s home game against the San Antonio Spurs, who currently hold a 13-50 record. While the team will miss Curry’s impact, they are hopeful that his time away will be brief, allowing them to continue their push for a strong finish to the season.
