The Los Angeles Rams have lost another key player in free agency as safety Jordan Fuller has signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers. Following Coleman Shelton’s departure to the Chicago Bears, Fuller’s move marks the Rams’ second free-agent loss this offseason. According to NFL Network, Fuller’s contract with the Panthers is valued at up to $5.25 million, which is less than the Rams paid to retain Kamren Curl, who received a two-year deal worth up to $13 million.
Fuller, who was drafted by the Rams in the sixth round in 2020, spent the last four seasons with the team. He quickly became a significant contributor, earning captain status in both 2021 and 2023, and even taking on the responsibility of calling defensive plays during his second season. Over his 48 games with the Rams, including 46 starts, Fuller accumulated 279 tackles, seven interceptions, and 17 passes defensed.
In Carolina, Fuller will reunite with Ejiro Evero, the Panthers’ defensive coordinator, who previously coached Fuller during his time with the Rams as a safeties coach in 2020 and secondary coach in 2021. This familiarity is likely to ease Fuller’s transition to his new team and allow him to continue his development under a coach who knows his strengths well.
This move is a significant change for both Fuller and the Rams, who will now need to adjust their secondary lineup in his absence.
