After the Bulldogs defeated Kentucky 13–12, Tate Ratledge underwent tightrope surgery on his left ankle, according to Jake Rowe of Dawgs HQ, a division of On3 Sports. According to Kirby Smart, Ratledge, Georgia’s starting right guard, will be out for at least a month.

Ratledge, a Rome, Georgia native, is among the Bulldogs’ top offensive linemen. In 2021 and 2022, he won the College Football Playoff National Championship twice, and in 2023, he was named to the first team of the SEC. In addition to being an excellent setter for Georgia’s running assault, the 6-foot-6, 310-pound player also performs a great job of guarding quarterback Carson Beck. The Bulldogs will have to adjust to his absence, especially because the Crimson Tide wants to stop Georgia’s run game and have an impact on Beck.
