The New England Patriots were defeated 24-3 at MetLife Stadium, and it seems as though the offense of the New York Jets has woken up. Both Allen Lazard and Aaron Rodgers returned to form in the first half, as the latter hauled in three passes for 48 yards and a touchdown to help turn the tide in New York’s favor.
However, why did the offensive not click until Week 3? Regarding the performance versus New England, Lazard remarked, “I think it’s a credit to Aaron be able to spread it around, and I think it just shows you how talented we are and how much depth we have.” It’s nice to have this thing starting now, but that’s just a standard we’re going to hold ourselves to.
It’s reasonable to argue that the Jets’ offensive display was their most “complete” in a long time.
Receivers were catching passes, Rodgers was hurling darts, the offensive line was applying pressure to the Patriots’ defensive line, and the run game was evident from the start.
Now, the focus is on standardizing it. Rodgers will spearhead the Jets’ attack, which will become more potent with every week that goes by as chemistry grows. Even though it’s only Week 3, New York already feels like it has everything figured out.
