Jahlil Okafor, the former Duke standout and No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, has signed a training camp deal with the Indiana Pacers. After his initial NBA stint, which included highlights such as earning All-Rookie First Team honors, Okafor struggled to find consistency and has been out of the league since 2021, when he last played for the Detroit Pistons.
Since his NBA departure, Okafor has played professionally in China, Mexico, Spain, and Puerto Rico, showcasing his skills internationally. At 6’11” with a 7’5″ wingspan, Okafor still possesses impressive physical tools and post moves that made him a dominant force in college and early in his NBA career. His current opportunity with the Pacers is a non-guaranteed, “make-good” deal, meaning that his chances of making the final roster will depend on his performance during training camp.
For Okafor, this could represent a last chance to return to the NBA, but he still has the tools to potentially carve out a role if he impresses in camp.
