Vikings Make Roster Moves, Release Myles Gaskin and Sign OL Julian Pearl

The Minnesota Vikings made several roster adjustments on Tuesday, opening up a spot on their 53-man roster by releasing running back Myles Gaskin. Additionally, they released linebacker Dallas Gant and tackle Marcellus Johnson from the practice squad.

Gaskin, who has moved between the active roster and practice squad this season, played in five games, recording three carries for a net loss of one yard. His release leaves the Vikings with three running backs on the active roster: Aaron Jones, Ty Chandler, and Cam Akers.

In addition to these changes, the Vikings added offensive lineman Julian Pearl to the practice squad. Pearl, an undrafted rookie, was previously with the Baltimore Ravens before joining Minnesota. These moves indicate the Vikings’ ongoing efforts to adjust depth and improve roster versatility as they progress through the season.

Vikings Sign Offensive Lineman Julian Pearl to Practice Squad, Release RB Myles Gaskin

Julian Pearl signed a practice squad contract with the Minnesota Vikings. Practice squad contracts typically operate on a weekly basis, with a standard salary set by the NFL. In 2023, the minimum weekly pay for a practice squad player with less than two years of NFL experience is $12,000, while players with more experience can earn up to $16,100 per week.

As a practice squad player, Pearl is eligible to be promoted to the active roster if needed, where he would receive a prorated portion of the league minimum salary for active players.
