Breaking: Las Vegas Raiders Officially Cut Another Top Veteran Today Due To…

The Las Vegas Raiders continue to shuffle their wide receiver group amid roster adjustments. The team cut Alex Bachman from the active roster to make space for tight end Michael Mayer, leaving only four wide receivers on the roster. Despite the reduced depth at the position, it seems the Raiders are comfortable keeping it light for now.

Additionally, the Raiders made changes to their practice squad, releasing wide receiver Jalen Guyton and bringing back Bachman. Guyton, a former Los Angeles Charger, joined the team earlier this offseason but didn’t play in a game. Known for his speed and ability to stretch the field, Guyton didn’t fit well with the Raiders’ current quarterback situation, which struggles to capitalize on deep throws. Bachman, while likely disappointed to return to the practice squad after earning a spot on the active roster, remains in the mix.

The Raiders appear to value his potential, and it’s possible he could see more playing time this season.

Wide receiver remains a key area of need for the Raiders. At the start of the season, the group looked promising, led by All-Pro Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers as a strong second option. Rookie Tre Tucker also generated excitement with a solid offseason. However, Adams forced a midseason trade, Meyers has missed time with injuries, and Tucker’s development has been hindered by the lack of a quarterback capable of maximizing his skill set. While Meyers and Tucker are expected to return next season, neither is suited to be a true No. 1 receiver.

The Raiders are likely to address the wide receiver position in the offseason. Among free agents, Cincinnati Bengals star Tee Higgins stands out but could command a contract exceeding $20 million annually. Alternatively, Las Vegas might target veteran receivers like Keenan Allen or Amari Cooper, complemented by a rookie selected in the middle rounds of the draft.

However, the Raiders’ primary focus will likely be securing a quarterback in the draft, making a first-round wide receiver pick unlikely. Ensuring the quarterback has reliable pass-catching options will be crucial to fostering success in the coming season.
