The bright side is that this puts Georgia back in the 12-team bracket

With the conclusion of another college football week, the College Football Playoff rankings have been released. Georgia football moved up two positions to No. 10 in the committee’s rankings after defeating Tennessee at home this past weekend.

The upside is that Georgia is once again the 11-seed in the 12-team tournament, although most people believe Georgia is deserving of far more respect than this. Particularly in relation to some of the teams that were ranked higher than UGA.

Paul Finebaum rips College Football Playoff committee over Georgia ranking - On3

It’s easy for Georgia fans to be upset about this, but when non-Georgians are echoing the opinions of UGA supporters, you know that the committee’s choice to rank Georgia at number ten is flawed.

Paul Finebaum of ESPN was among several who expressed this opinion about the committee’s revised rankings on Tuesday.

“This is not a serious committee. There are football coaches on this committee, and they cannot honestly tell me or anybody else that they believe Georgia is inferior to colleges like Indiana, Penn State, Miami, and so forth.”

Georgia deserves to be ranked higher

Like nearly everyone else in the nation, Finebaum believes Georgia should be rated higher. They have the nation’s greatest schedule and, after defeating Clemson, Texas, and Tennessee, they may have the best three-win streak. However, clubs like Indiana, Miami (FL), and Penn State are placed higher for some reason.

Despite their terrible histories, these teams are all unbeaten or have just lost once, therefore there is no denying that they should be included in the CFP scenario. Despite playing ten games this season, none of the three teams have yet to secure a major victory. Georgia, on the other hand, has consistently shown their worth despite their two defeats.

The committee must eventually stop focusing solely on everyone’s record and start giving credit to teams that have a history of successful victories. You must observe who each team has actually played to get the whole picture; the overall record only provides a portion of the picture.

And after doing so, it’s obvious that Georgia is the squad with the most amazing record out of these three.
