ESPN REPORT: Just In St. Louis Cardinals Fans Favorite Superstar Officially Turn Down New Contract Offer And Sign With Rivals In A Deal Worth $200-Million

The Los Angeles Dodgers remain highly active this offseason, navigating a flurry of transactions, rumors, and roster moves. Their latest acquisition brings experienced reliever Giovanni Gallegos, formerly of the St. Louis Cardinals, to the organization on a minor league deal, according to Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors.

Gallegos, 33, spent seven seasons with the Cardinals after starting his career in the New York Yankees’ system. In July 2024, the Cardinals designated him for assignment, leading Gallegos to choose free agency. He ended the season with the Minnesota Twins on a minor league contract.

Dodgers’ Offseason Activity

The Dodgers have been busy in the fast-paced offseason market. While speculation around free agent Juan Soto continues, the team has been addressing its roster. Recently, the Dodgers finalized arbitration agreements with pitchers Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May. They also chose to non-tender relievers Brent Honeywell Jr. and Zach Logue, making them free agents.

Following Shohei Ohtani’s MVP-winning season and the Dodgers’ World Series victory, Los Angeles is positioned as an attractive destination for players. Ohtani expressed gratitude for his teammates’ contributions to his success, stating to MLB’s Anthony Castrovince:
“I’m just representing the Dodgers. It was a complete team effort. I wouldn’t have received this award without my teammates. If we didn’t play as a team, we wouldn’t have made the playoffs or won the World Series.”

Future Moves on the Horizon

MLB insider Ken Rosenthal suggests that Dodgers general manager Andrew Friedman may target free-agent shortstop Willy Adames. Friedman has long admired Adames, dating back to his acquisition of the player for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2014. However, Friedman is known for being cautious with major contracts, as evidenced by the team’s approach with stars like Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts.

Additionally, Los Angeles has reportedly met with 2023 Cy Young winner Blake Snell, although he remains a hot commodity among multiple teams.
