Good News: Just In Another Top Talented 4-Star Superstar Officially Commits To Virginia Tech Hokies Football

Virginia Tech’s Four-Star Recruit Stays Committed Despite UVA Visit

Micah Matthews, a four-star athlete committed to Virginia Tech, attended the Virginia vs. Maryland football game this past weekend. While he has been in contact with Virginia’s coaching staff, Matthews reaffirmed his commitment to the Hokies, where he plans to play both football and baseball.

Earlier in September, Virginia Tech experienced a surprising recruiting loss when Matthew Outten flipped his commitment to Penn State shortly after the Hokies’ overtime loss to Vanderbilt. Now, another Class of 2025 Hokie commit has drawn attention with his visit to an in-state rival’s game.

Matthews, ranked as the No. 4 athlete in the Class of 2025, explained that his trip to Charlottesville was personal. He clarified his stance to 247Sports, stating, “I am 100% committed to VT and will be there next week vs. Rutgers.” He further shared that the visit was an opportunity to see friends who play for Virginia, as his high school football game had been in Charlottesville the night before.

Despite expressing admiration for Virginia’s offense and their emphasis on wide receivers, Matthews remains firm in his decision to join Virginia Tech. His versatility as a dual-sport athlete makes him a valuable prospect for both Hokies football coach Brent Pry and baseball coach John Szefc. As a future wide receiver, Matthews highlighted Virginia’s offensive system but reiterated his commitment to the Hokies.

With Matthews confirming his plans to attend Virginia Tech’s upcoming game against Rutgers, his recruitment is one to watch as it progresses. However, his words indicate strong allegiance to the Hokies for now.
