Good News: Just In Another Top Talented Gators Fans Favorite 5-star Flip Commitment To FSU

Florida State has secured a major recruiting victory for the #Tribe25 class by flipping former Florida Gators commit Tae’shaun Gelsey. After a string of player losses to their in-state rival, the Seminoles struck back by landing Gelsey, a highly regarded offensive prospect.

Standing at 6’4” and weighing 215 pounds, Gelsey plays for Riverside High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He is ranked as the 330th overall prospect nationally by the 247Sports Composite, which also lists him as the 17th-best tight end and 47th-best player in Florida.

Initially committing to the Gators in late June, Gelsey reopened his recruitment after Florida State extended an offer in mid-October. He attended the Seminoles’ game against North Carolina and later visited for the FSU-Florida matchup, ultimately deciding to flip his commitment to Florida State.

Gelsey chose the Seminoles over nearly 30 other programs, including Auburn, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Tulane, UCF, and West Virginia. While many schools recruited him as a tight end, FSU views him as a jumbo wide receiver. Known for his impressive route running and ability to win jump balls, Gelsey is a versatile offensive weapon.

Gelsey’s high school performance has been exceptional. Last season, he recorded 48 receptions for 859 yards and nine touchdowns. This year, he has already surpassed 50 catches and scored 12 touchdowns. In addition to football, he plays basketball, where he averaged 10 points and seven rebounds per game as a sophomore. Academically, he maintains a 3.6 GPA.

His official FSU bio highlights his junior season, where he tallied 61 catches for 875 yards and 14 touchdowns, helping Riverside reach the regional quarterfinals of the 4A state playoffs. Over his high school career, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to make big plays on the field. Gelsey’s commitment further bolsters Florida State’s dynamic recruiting class.
