Belton, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – South Carolina’s standout athlete, Marquise Henderson of Belton-Honea Path (BHP), has officially committed to the Clemson Tigers during the early signing period. The son of a former Clemson star, Henderson is set to carry on his family legacy at the university.
Henderson’s high school career has been nothing short of extraordinary. As a running back, he has set multiple records, accumulating nearly 8,000 all-purpose yards across 47 games. His rushing stats are remarkable, with 577 carries yielding 6,369 yards at an astonishing average of 11 yards per carry. These achievements highlight his exceptional talent and potential as he transitions to college football.
Despite signing with Clemson, Henderson’s high school journey isn’t over yet. BHP is poised for a crucial playoff game this Friday, with hopes of advancing to the South Carolina high school state championship.
Henderson’s prowess on the field has earned him widespread recognition as a four-star recruit. According to On3, he is ranked as the No. 164 overall prospect nationally, the ninth-best at his position, and the third-best player in South Carolina. Henderson will join Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class, consisting of 15 highly rated signees. Of these, 13 players, including Henderson, are expected to report to campus for the spring semester, giving them an early start in acclimating to college-level competition.
