5-Star ATH III Commits to Texas Longhorns
The Texas Longhorns have made a significant splash in the 2025 recruiting cycle by securing a commitment from five-star athlete Michael Terry III, one of their top targets. Terry, a standout from Alamo Heights in San Antonio, Texas, adds considerable talent to the Longhorns’ class.
As reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound athlete chose Texas over strong competition from Nebraska and Oregon. Nebraska made a serious effort to sway Terry, while Oregon also pushed hard to land him. Ultimately, Terry decided to stay close to home and commit to Texas.
While his exact role at the collegiate level remains undecided, Terry’s versatility offers the Longhorns numerous options. On offense, he could contribute as a running back, wide receiver, tight end, or in the return game.
There’s also potential for him to play defense, although he is expected to begin his career in Austin as an offensive weapon.
Terry expressed confidence in his decision, highlighting Texas as an excellent fit for his skills. “I always knew Texas was a great fit for me, just like Oregon and Nebraska,” Terry told On3 during the summer. He emphasized the importance of his final visits to ensure he felt confident in his choice.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 1 athlete, the No. 44 overall player, and the No. 11 player in Texas according to the On3 Industry rankings, Terry’s commitment is a major win for Texas. His dynamic skill set and potential to impact the game in various ways make him a valuable addition to the Longhorns’ future roster.
