Virginia Tech Adds Four-Star Recruit to 2025 Class
Blacksburg, VA — The Hokies aren’t finished making waves in recruiting. After securing all 18 recruits committed to the program before signing day, Virginia Tech has added another key player, flipping four-star safety Jahmari DeLoatch from Cincinnati to their 2025 class.
DeLoatch, one of the top football talents in Virginia, is ranked as the eighth-best player in the state by 247Sports. While listed as a safety by some scouting networks, DeLoatch is projected to excel as a nickel cornerback at the collegiate level. His versatility makes him an ideal fit to fill roles previously held by standout players like Keonta Jenkins and Mansoor Delane.
Before his flip to Virginia Tech, DeLoatch had been committed to Cincinnati since June 27. He also received expert predictions linking him to Michigan, but he ultimately signed his letter of intent with the Hokies on signing day morning.
A track star with impressive speed, DeLoatch brings athleticism and agility that will strengthen Virginia Tech’s secondary. Head coach Brent Pry praised his potential impact, emphasizing that DeLoatch is poised to contribute immediately and bolster a defensive backfield filled with returning talent.
DeLoatch becomes the 19th player to sign with Virginia Tech in the 2025 class and the fourth rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports. His addition underscores the Hokies’ strong push to build a competitive roster under Pry’s leadership.
With signing day momentum still high, Virginia Tech continues to solidify its standing in the recruiting landscape while preparing for the upcoming season. DeLoatch’s commitment marks another significant step in their journey to return to prominence in college football.
