Breaking News: Dodgers sign another top star right now

DALLAS (AP) — According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a $22 million, two-year contract to keep right-hander Blake Treinen and a $17 million, one-year contract to acquire outfielder Michael Conforto, as reported by The Associated Press.

Because the agreements were contingent on good physicals, the people who spoke on Sunday night did so under the condition of anonymity. MLB.com was the first to report about Conforto’s contract.
This season, Conforto, a former first-round choice and Redmond High School alumnus who turns 32 on March 1, hit.237 with 20 home runs and 66 RBIs for San Francisco in the latter season of a two-year, $36 million contract. He joins two-time Cy Young Award-winning pitcher Blake Snell, who went to Shorewood High School in Shoreline, as the second product from the Seattle region to depart the Giants for the rival Dodgers this summer.

Conforto was an All-Star in 2017 after playing for the New York Mets from 2015 to 21. Conforto declined the Mets’ $18.4 million offer and waited to sign until 2022 as he healed from surgery on his right shoulder.

Over nine major league seasons, Conforto has a.251 lifetime average, 167 home runs, and 520 RBIs.

at addition, Treinen, 36, has connections to Washington State because he spends the offseason at Walla Walla. At Walla Walla Community College, his wife, Kati Treinen, serves as the assistant women’s basketball coach.

In 50 bullpen appearances, Treinen finished 7-3 with a 1.93 ERA, walking 11 and striking out 56 in 46 2/3 innings. He made nine playoff appearances for the World Series champions, going 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA.

While recuperating from Nov. 11, 2022, labrum and rotator cuff surgery, he missed the 2023 major league season. He didn’t make his season debut until May 5 after suffering a bruised lung on March 9 after being struck by a line drive from Sam Huff of the Texas Rangers.

Last season, in the option year of a deal that called for a $8 million salary in 2023, he received a base salary of $1 million.
