ESPN REPORT: Just In Another 5-Star Talented QB Commits To Auburn Tigers Football Team

Auburn Tigers Add Another Quarterback via Transfer Portal

The Auburn Tigers continue to bolster their quarterback depth, securing junior Tanner Daniels from the transfer portal. Daniels, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound athlete from Buford, Georgia, previously played three seasons at Stanford. During his time there, he appeared in 33 games, starting 20. He completed 366 of 602 pass attempts (60.8%) for 3,986 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. Additionally, Daniels showcased his mobility, rushing for 1,117 yards and nine touchdowns on 282 carries.

Out of high school, Daniels was rated a three-star recruit by 247Sports, ranked as the No. 994 player nationally and the No. 64 quarterback. As a transfer, he maintains a three-star rating and is currently listed as the No. 176 overall player and the No. 25 quarterback in the portal.

With Daniels on board, Auburn’s transfer portal class rises to No. 4 in 247Sports’ rankings, trailing only Ole Miss, LSU, and Texas Tech. Daniels has one year of eligibility left.

Auburn is reshaping its quarterback room after losing all four scholarship quarterbacks from last season. Payton Thorne graduated, while Hank Brown, Holden Geriner, and Walker White entered the portal. To address the need for depth, the Tigers have now added three quarterbacks: five-star freshman Deuce Knight, former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold, and Daniels. This trio represents Auburn’s seventh portal addition.

On National Signing Day, head coach Hugh Freeze emphasized his goal of carrying four scholarship quarterbacks. While Daniels, Arnold, and Knight bring the team closer to that target, Auburn may still seek one more quarterback via the portal. Former Duke quarterback Maalik Murphy, who has already visited Auburn, is a potential candidate for the final spot.
