Arkansas football has added a key piece to its defensive line with the commitment of Abilene Christian transfer David Oke. The 6-foot-2, 290-pound defensive lineman announced his decision on Friday, just days after an official visit to Fayetteville. Oke has one season of eligibility remaining and expressed enthusiasm for the program’s focus on player relationships.
“They care about their players,” Oke said. “Most people think of it as business, but they take it as relationships because football will eventually end.”
Oke chose Arkansas over an impressive list of offers from schools such as Southern Cal, Virginia, BYU, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, and others. His decision came after weighing multiple visits and considering strong interest from several prominent programs.
Before visiting Arkansas from December 14-16, Oke had taken an official trip to Texas Tech. His recruitment continued with a visit to North Carolina immediately before his commitment. Southern Cal also made a significant late effort to secure the talented lineman, but the Razorbacks ultimately stood out.
Oke’s addition is a significant boost to Arkansas’ defensive line depth as the team continues to strengthen its roster through transfer additions. Known for his size and skill, Oke has the potential to make an immediate impact in his final collegiate season.
With his commitment, Arkansas gains a player who not only brings talent and experience but also values the program’s emphasis on fostering meaningful connections between players and staff. As Oke prepares to suit up for the Razorbacks, his decision highlights the appeal of Arkansas’ culture and vision for the future under its coaching staff.
