Auburn Football Lands Top WR . from Transfer Portal
Auburn football has secured a major addition to its offense, landing Eric Singleton Jr., the top wide receiver in the 2024 transfer portal. After exploring his options, Singleton announced his commitment to Auburn for the 2025 season, as reported by On3 Sports.
Singleton, a former Georgia Tech standout, joins the Tigers with two years of eligibility remaining and the option for a redshirt season. During the 2024 campaign, he led the Yellow Jackets with 56 receptions, 754 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. This marked his second consecutive season surpassing 700 receiving yards.
As a freshman in 2023, Singleton burst onto the college football scene, tallying 714 yards and six touchdowns, earning consensus first-team freshman All-American honors. Despite starting his college career as a three-star recruit, he quickly established himself as one of the nation’s premier receivers.
Upon entering the portal, Singleton was ranked as the top wide receiver available and the second-best overall player behind quarterback John Mateer. He surpassed other notable receivers like Kevin Conception, Zachariah Branch, and Nic Anderson.
Hailing from Douglasville, Georgia, Singleton previously received an offer from Auburn before committing to Georgia Tech in 2023. Now, he will return to his home state to lead the Tigers’ receiving corps. He joins fellow ACC transfer Horatio Fields, a former Wake Forest wideout, who committed to Auburn on December 19.
The arrival of Singleton and other top transfers bolsters Auburn’s chances for a strong 2025 season under head coach Hugh Freeze. Entering his third year, Freeze is still seeking his first winning season at Auburn. Despite losing key players like Payton Thorne, Jarquez Hunter, and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, the Tigers have added talent, including quarterbacks Jackson Arnold and Ashton Daniels, and offensive tackle Xavier Chaplin.
Arnold, a former five-star recruit, could be Auburn’s best quarterback since Bo Nix. Although his time at Oklahoma fell short of expectations, he brings high potential to the Tigers, offering hope for a revitalized offense in 2025.
