Auburn Loses Former Starting Offensive Tackle to Transfer Portal
Auburn offensive lineman Percy Lewis has entered the transfer portal after just one season with the Tigers, according to multiple reports. Lewis, a senior who joined Auburn from Mississippi State, had been expected to make a significant impact but leaves after a disappointing year on the Plains.
Lewis becomes the second Auburn offensive lineman to enter the portal, following E.J. Harris, who announced his decision on December 2.
Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 355 pounds, Lewis started at left tackle in games against New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Missouri. He earned recognition from Pro Football Focus (PFF) as part of their Team of the Week following Auburn’s season-opening victory over Alabama A&M.
However, Lewis struggled as the 2024 season progressed, leading to his benching. He played just 308 snaps throughout the season and received the lowest PFF grade among Auburn offensive tackles with at least 50 snaps.
Lewis joined Auburn as a three-star transfer and was ranked the No. 8 offensive tackle in the portal by 247Sports. Before his time at Auburn, he spent two seasons at Mississippi State, where he appeared in 25 games and started eight. Prior to Mississippi State, Lewis was a standout junior college (JUCO) recruit, rated as the No. 2 overall JUCO player and the top offensive tackle in the 2022 class by 247Sports.
Despite Lewis’ departure, Auburn has been active in strengthening its offensive line. The Tigers recently added two highly ranked offensive tackles from the transfer portal: Mason Murphy from USC and Xavier Chaplin from Virginia Tech, ranked No. 5 and No. 3 among portal offensive tackles, respectively, by 247Sports. Auburn also secured commitments from four offensive linemen in their 2025 high school recruiting class.
Currently, Auburn boasts the No. 4 transfer portal class, trailing only Texas Tech, LSU, and Ole Miss.
